Purity

Youth discussed purity this week. What a relevant issue for the pressures that our youth are faced with, including pressures to have sex before marriage, pornography and sexting to name a few. We talked about three Bible truths:
  • God wants us to attain purity as a mark of his presence in us. 1 Thessalonians 4: 3, 7, 8
  • Gaining purity is not a one-time event, but a process. 1 Thessalonians 4: 1, 2
  • Purity keeps us from abusing one another. 1 Thessalonians 4: 4-6

We talked about strategies that help us in this process including:
  • Avoiding being alone with members of the opposite sex.
  • Surround yourself with other young people who value purity.
  • Wait until you are old enough to date.
  • Listen to your parents advice regarding your relationships.
Any other advice for our youth? Post so we can share with them!

  1. After today's single strategies workshop we can definitely add more strategies for purity. One important one that sticks with me is

"Guard your eargates, eyegates and what you talk about." What can you add?!

  2. The strategies are very important. I think one of the most important strategies is surrounding yourself by people who have value purity.

  3. I think two good strategies to add to the list would be to know their identity in Christ and to have a heart of purity. Without an identity there is a loss of purpose, which would cause for them to look for something or someone to define them.
The Bible says... for as a man thinks in his heart so is he... if a person does not inwardly think purity then outwardly that person will do impure things...
I believe purity first starts inwardly and then pours out into outwardly actions.
