August is Outreach month at Victory Life and this was a part of our demonstration of God's love for the community. It was so much fun to see people's reaction to a free gift - many didn't quite know how to take it - others were amazingly appreciative - all were impacted!
We endeavored to give a free gift... like God's love; it was a small way for us to show God's love in a tangible way. In the end, we hope we brought some light into someone's day; it certainly did that for each of us who participated in the operation! We gave natural light and hopefully a little spiritual light as well.
For those of you who participated, we would love to hear some of your takeaways, some of your interactions and how it felt for you as the giver - please share - and keep on 'Flashing'!

One of my favorite moments of the day was before we left the church, at the end of service. As I was describing what we were about to do, it was fun to see the faces. People were slow responders as it sank in. It was like, "oh, that's interesting - oh, I can do that - oh, that's cool - oh, we're really about to do this!" When the congregation erupted in cheering and applause at the idea of going out and sharing the light, my day was made! I love the Overcomers at Victory Life! You all are the greatest!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great opprotunity to meet people in the neighborhood, supring many knew about Victory Life and were interested in attending service one day. It felt really great to have an opprotunity to be a blessing to those in the area and see how somethning as simple as giving away free light bulbs can brighten and make someones day.
ReplyDeleteThe message certainly set the atmosphere, so by the time Pastor started describing what we were about to do I couldn't hardly wait!! It felt refreshing to be able to be a blessing, to impact the community and let them know that we care, as God cares for us. I thank God and Pastor for shedding light on the fact that I am Light and that the light's purpose and mission is to dark places! See, I'm getting excited again!! V-Life is on the move and I am happy to be apart of the movement.
ReplyDeleteI was energized by the cheering and anticipation of everyone before we even went out. It was like we were at a playoff game, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe first person that my group gave light bulbs to left me inspired. We knocked on the door and the person came to the door with a friendly, yet inquisitive look on their face. I said "Hi, we are from Victory Life right up the street and we are out giving away free light bulbs today, do you need any or would you like some for the future?" He replied "I guess I could take some for later, but where's your church at?" We replied that we were located just up the street on the corner of Third and Madison and he said "Man, I haven't had a word in so long."
After a bit more conversation and a friendly good bye, my group walked away feeling pretty good that we were able to show a pure act of kindness. And secondly, we were excited to be a positive representation of God.
I don't know if we will see the gentleman at church at all, but I do know that every time he looks at the package of light bulbs, he'll remember that God loves him!
Man....now that's church!
This Sunday was an awesome service as well as an great outreaching experience! I am used to preachers saying take the message you receive on Sunday and share it with someone this week. But victory Life is so awesome we took the message in a cunning but gentle way to the surrounding neighborhood on Sunday minutes after church was over! Since Sunday I have been thinking how can I shine my light of Christ as well as give the light of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteSunday was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanking God for the experience. I've only read about this sort of thing in books! And Victory Life did it, with light bulbs!!! I was like what Lady C was saying....now that's church! I'm super pumped! Super excited, and super ready! Where else can his light be shined?!?!
ReplyDeleteSunday was great! I've got the "Church on the Move" bug. Now I'm thinking, "What MORE can I do??"

I've been shining! In every interaction, especially those that could potentially be conflict, I've had "shine" in the back of my mind. Got my energy bill today. It was for $8.25, but payment due was -$126.00. I accept this as favor. Company wrote a note that since I had such a good payment history they had released my deposit and applied it to my bill! Thank God for favor :-)
