Romans 7 at Connect

I just have to say, if you're able to come to Connect and just aren't coming, you are missing an amazing time in the Word.

For those of you who were there last night, I'd love to post a lot of the revelation understanding we came to last night.

Share your takeaways!

  1. Last night was an eye opener for me. The part where it really clicked inside my head was when Vanessa gave a metaphor and said that "We had an old lease (with sin) and now that we have a new lease (with Jesus, meaning when we give our lives fully to Christ we are living in his presence.) We stay in his house and sin tries to give in at times(in which we may fall down) and since you mess up you feel like your not worthy and kick yourself out because of it, but God looks at you and says "Didn't you read the lease?" So Jesus and Grace have power over sin and we don't have to leave."

That really made things clear and so what i got out of it is if you are truthfully given your life to Jesus, just because you may have fallen down doesn't mean you have to stay there. You are God's child and one sin doesn't determine or have to control your life. As pastor once said "it's not what you do or don't do it's your faith and belief!"

  3. Our relationship with GOD is like a marriage, and you cant be married to two peole at the same time.

You can't be bound by the old law if in fact you operate under the new law, and vice-versa. The old law was fulfilled, we were released from it, now we have privilage to enter into a new covenant with Christ.

The old law revealed sin, the new law killed sin. The law aroused our sin nature because we naturally want to do what we cant.

In our sin nature we bore fruit that separated us from GOD, but now being released from sin, we can bear fruit for GOD.

Desire relationship not law. I dont want to sin because I love GOD.

My mind is renewed and so is my body. Im no longer bound to flesly passions, but to the spirt of GOD.

It's not about your short-comings, we all have them, but it's about how you respond to them.

I thank GOD that JESUS died for my sins, renewed my mind, and gave me power to overcome sin.

A lot said, but a lot was revealed. Im picking up what your laying down pastor

  5. Wednesday-Connect was the most life changing discussion I’ve ever participated in. Romans 7 was on point! The whole concept of living under the "Grace Contract" has changed the way I look at sin. In fact, I don’t even look at it anymore. I learned that the more attention I give to it, the more power I allow it to have over me. So if/when I make a mistake, I already know that God will/has forgiven me....It's all written in the agreement terms of the Grace Contract. There is no reason for me to allow sin to set me back, after all, he’s not even mentioned in my new contract!

For all of you who HAVE NOT read YOUR "GRACE AGREEMENT TERMS" allow me to read the first line:
This new contract requires you to Seek Ways to Please God.

Of course we can only do this by actually seeking God.
When we follow these terms, our “Passion to Please God” gains control over our MIND and BODY, forcing sin to leave. Jesus released us from the old contract where sin had more influence when he died for us (Thank you Jesus!!).

So don’t focus on "not sinning”, focus on "Ways to make our Creator Smile". This makes life much more interesting.

  7. Paul knew what and who he stood for. He was transparent, yet taught boldly. He lived the life that he talked and taught about. He had great understanding of the principles of God. He was passionate in his beliefs and wasn't intimidated by others. He was humbly submitted to God. Oh Lord, help me to follow Paul's example.
